Welcome to SR-967

Welcome to the home of SR-967, your source for schedules, downloads and updates for the Fall 2009 Wood Badge course held by the Last Frontier Council, BSA in Central and Southwestern Oklahoma.  The course encompasses six full days of intense learning and fellowship and will be held the last weekend in August and the third weekend in September.  Steeped in tradition but relevant for today, 2009 marks the 90th aniversary of the Wood Badge course.

SR-967 will be held at beautiful Camp George Thomas , 8 miles west of Apache, Oklahoma on highway 19.  Back in 1911, Baden-Powell began training Scouting's adult leaders by organizing a series of lectures for scouters. He made great strides in the years that followed, culminating in 1919 with the establishment of the first Wood Badge training course. That first course was held at  Gilwell Park, north of London England. Since then every place in the world where the Wood Badge course is presented is temporarily named Gilwell and in the Last Frontier Council, Camp George Thomas has been the site of Gilwell for many years.
