The truth about Wood Badge! Wood Badge is the best experience I’ve had as an adult leader. I went with a few adults from my troop who, like myself were nervous about giving up two weekends away from family with a bunch of people we didn’t know. After the first weekend, I could not wait until I returned “Back to Gilwell”. Wood Badge is where I developed strong relationships with friends I still have today.

The leadership training I received from Wood Badge has proven to be far superior to any of the previous training I’ve received in my career. This course will assist you in scouting, your career and personal life.

One of the best feelings I received from the course was experiencing being a kid again. You will learn how to guide your youths towards putting together a quality program. Your scouts can also experience the same leadership training by attending NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) which is modeled after Wood Badge.

Like being a kid again
I was relatively new to scouting when I attended Wood Badge, but experienced scouters guided me so I had a better understanding of the program. Whether you are experienced or new to scouting, Wood Badge has something to offer you. Wood badge is inclusive; it has a diverse group of people with a wide range of skills and experiences to help us succeed as one team.

The practical phase of this course will be covered over two 3-day weekends. September 8, 9 and 10th, 201Life Long Friends6 (Thurs – Sat) and the second weekend dates are September 29, 30th and October 1, 2016 (Thurs –Sat). The cost is $200.00 if fully paid by July 8, 2016. The cost will increase to $225.00 after July 8th, 2016.

The application phase, starts after the 2nd weekend and consists of “working your ticket”. In the Application Phase, participants will use the leadership skills they learned and developed during the Practical Phase. Each scouter will work with a Troop Guide to help them successfully accomplish the goals they’ve developed within a 6 to 18 month time period.

Thank you for setting the example our youth will follow. I look forward to meeting each of you on course.

Yours in Wood Badge,

Nick Elias
